Central Stores Requisition

Welcome

Welcome to Duquesne University’s Central Receiving and Stores Department, located in Room B-12 Mellon Hall. We are responsible for receiving, inventory management, shipping and distribution of mail, parcels and equipment.

Stores supplies can be ordered by printing and faxing a Central Stores Requisition to x5989.

Central Receiving is also the shipping point for outgoing United Parcel Service packages. To ship a package UPS, simply fill out a material return form, attach it to the package and route the package to Central Receiving. Material return forms are free of charge and available upon request. Once shipped, packages can be tracked (call 412-396-6008 for tracking number) by using the UPS tracking page.

Note: This service is not available for personal use.

LARGE INCOMING DIRECT DELIVERY ARRANGEMENTS

If your deparment expects to receive a large incoming direct delivery, consider the following:

  • A tractor-trailer will be making the delivery - Where will the truck park? Does Parking, Public Safety or Receiving know of the trucks arrival? Perhaps parking spaces will need to be blocked or traffic managed while the vehicle is maneuvering or parked. Will the driver need directions to campus and what approach to the University will work best for arrival and departure? How and by whom will the truck be unloaded? Does the excessive weight of the load require special unloading equipment? Is the area prepared for the incoming material?

All of these considerations and questions need to be addressed well before the arrival of the truck, otherwise the department could be facing a situation where the delivery cannot be made due to an impedance of parked cars, the truck could be causing a dangerous traffic flow or the room/area may not be ready to accept the delivery. As well, the personnel who will be involved may not be prepared to do the unloading. If a truck is turned away, the department may be charged a redelivery charge by the freight company and problems with the delay could be a detriment to scheduled university or departmental activities.

If you are ever faced with the logistical questions mentioned, please call Ed Bayer at Central Stores (#4944) to aid you in preparation of such deliveries.
